Bétonsalon is a non-profit orga­ni­za­tion estab­lished in 2003. From 2016 to 2020, led by Mélanie Bouteloup, the asso­ci­a­tion man­aged two sites of activity: Bétonsalon - Center for art and research and Villa Vassilieff, cul­tural estab­lish­ments of the city of Paris, labeled con­tem­po­rary art center of national interest by the Ministry of Culture.

In 2020, the Villa Vassilieff closed its doors per­ma­nently. The site of Bétonsalon - Center for art and research located within the University of Paris in the 13th arrondisse­ment, now led by Émilie Renard, is still in open.

During its period of activity, the Villa Vassilieff, located in the chemin du Montparnasse within the 15th arrondisse­ment, intended to revive its his­tory as a former studio by inviting artists and researchers to take a con­tem­po­rary look at this her­itage. The Villa Vassilieff pro­ject, ded­i­cated to unex­plored resources, aimed to rewrite and diver­sify art his­to­ries, through exhi­bi­tions and a res­i­dency pro­gram that accom­pa­nied four inter­na­tional artists, researchers or cura­tors each year.

The Villa Vassilieff’s pro­gram has shed a polit­ical and con­tem­po­rary light on our shared and col­lec­tive his­to­ries by proposing exhi­bi­tions, events, visits, work­shops, thoughts, debates... This pro­ject, the pro­duct of a common work, has only been made pos­sible by the involve­ment of all those who have con­tributed to it. Thus, a warm thank you to the artists, researchers, cura­tors, employees, patrons, con­trib­u­tors, part­ners, tech­ni­cians, vol­un­teers, interns, who have sup­ported and par­tic­i­pated in the life of this place for nearly five years.
